BALLITO is the heart of the Dolphin Coast and is encompassed by waving fields of sugar cane and flanked by the turquoise, warm Indian Ocean. The town was proclaimed a township in 1954 and reached Borough status in 1986. From the stories we hear, the name Ballito means “little ball”. It is well known for it’s superb , safe, netted beaches, and is a favourite holiday destination. Salt Rock

Salt Rock, which borders Chakas Rock, provides excellent swimming and fishing beaches, as well as offshore reefs for snorkeling. The main beach is netted and protected by Life Guards. There is also a launch site for the Shark's Board boat, which sets off every morning to inspect the nets. The new Tiffany Shopping Centre can be found off the N2 and the area offers a choice of top restaurants and a Hotel with Time Share facilities. The Salt Rock area is primarily a residential suburb.


 CHAKAS ROCK, just a few kilometers from Ballito, has the most beautiful stretch of level, sandy beach, which continues for many kilometers.
